Swimwear Fabrics: Playing it Safe

This is a friendly reminder to our patrons of what types of swimwear materials and other fabrics to avoid wearing while swimming in any community pool. Although it may seem like nothing to worry about, cotton-based fabrics and other materials can present safety hazards to other swimmers and cause problems with pump equipment.

Playing it Safe Around Thunderstorms

Second only to flooding, lightning has been the second greatest cause of storm-related deaths in the United States for the past forty years. Lightning Awareness Week (NOAA.gov) is designed to raise the awareness of the threat of lightning to those participating in outdoor activities. Educating yourself on the signs of an approaching thunderstorm, knowing your surroundings, and knowing where to seek shelter can greatly benefit the safety of yourself and others around you.
